3rd grade has been incorporating math in art the last week. We've been using fractions and geometric shapes to create drawings inspired by Josef Albers.
The Project:
We first discussed different ways math can be used in art. Then we took a look at the life and work of Josef Albers, a German-born American artist. Students then made their own geometric shapes that they traced 10 times as a whole, 10 times as a half, and 10 times as a quarter. The results caused visual tension that will make your eyes cross! Check back to see photos of the finished products!
